How to Wear the Royal Pop Pocket Watch on Your Wrist — Step by Step

How to Wear the Royal Pop on Your Wrist — The Complete Guide

The Royal Pop is sold as a pocket watch. It arrives on a lanyard, its 40mm octagonal ceramic case has no lugs, and no standard 20mm or 22mm strap will fit it. This guide shows you exactly how to wear it on your wrist in under a minute, with no tools and nothing permanent.

Why you need an adapter, not a strap

A normal wristwatch has lugs — two pairs of horns with a spring bar between them. The Royal Pop has none. Its ceramic case uses a proprietary click coupler built for a lanyard, so there is physically nowhere for a strap to attach. A wrist adapter wraps the case in a frame that does have a strap, which is why it works where a strap cannot.

Step 1 — Check your crown position first

This is the single most common ordering mistake, so do it before anything else.

  • Crown at 12 o'clock (Lépine): Ocho Negro, Huit Blanc, Otto Rosso, Green Eight, Orenji Hachi, Blaue Acht
  • Crown at 3 o'clock (Savonnette): Lan Ba, Otg Roz

Look at your watch with the dial facing you. Crown at the top means 12 o'clock. Crown on the right means 3 o'clock. Order the matching adapter or the crown will be blocked.

Step 2 — Remove the lanyard

Detach the original lanyard from the coupler and put it somewhere safe. Nothing is being discarded here — you can refit it at any time.

Step 3 — Snap the watch in

Line the ceramic case up with the FKM rubber receiver inside the adapter and press firmly until you hear and feel the click. It takes a few seconds. No tools, no glue, no drilling, no screws.

Step 4 — Check the fit

The case should sit flush inside the frame with no play. Give it a gentle tug — it should not move. A correctly seated adapter reads as one integrated watch, not two parts.

Step 5 — Size the strap

Rubber straps adjust at the deployant clasp. Steel bracelets come with an adjustment key so you can remove links yourself at home in a couple of minutes.

Step 6 — Taking it off again

Press the release tab and the watch pops straight out. The FKM receiver is soft and non-abrasive, so there are no marks on the ceramic. Your watch returns to original condition whenever you want.
